Levon Aronian Helps Kick Off Glendale Chess Week

Thank you to Grandmaster Levon Aronian for helping us kick off Glendale Chess Week with a simultaneous exhibition at the Center for Armenian Arts on Aug. 28.

Spots to play were sold out before the event. During the exhibition, Levon moved from board to board to face dozens of opponents at once while families, community members, and chess fans gathered around the room to follow the games. It gave players a chance to test themselves against one of the world’s elite grandmasters and gave spectators a close-up look at high-level chess.

Among those attending were Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian, Glendale Fire Chief Jeff Brooks, American Chess Academy President Armen Ambartsoumian, and other civic and community leaders.
